Why A2 Desi Cow Ghee is costlier than regular ghee

Ghee, an essential in Indian homes is almost an everyday used commodity. So many of our Indian dishes, whether sweet or savoury, use ghee as the most basic ingredient in their recipes.

With the increased awareness about the benefits of A2 ghee and other A2 dairy products made from the milk of desi cows, more and more families have switched from regular dairy to A2 dairy products such as A2 milk, ghee, paneer, and even dahi.

While a lot of people have chosen desi A2 ghee for a healthier lifestyle, there seems to be some curiosity regarding the difference in the rates of desi versus regular ghee.

To answer the question, here are some reasons that would explain why the price of desi ghee is comparatively higher:

Yield – Desi ghee, as most know, is made from the milk of desi cows that do not yield as much milk as imported cows. And thus to produce a said quantity of desi milk, a higher number of desi cows need to be milked.

Bilona method – Desi ghee, as opposed to regular ghee, is prepared using a Vedic method called the Bilona or hand-churning method. This ancient method of making ghee is a time-consuming, effortful, and costly process that makes the ghee tastier, healthier, and highly aromatic as compared to regular ghee made from imported cows.

Ethical processes – Pure A2 Desi ghee is unadulterated and free of any additives. The milk used to make such ghee is obtained by employing ethical milking processes that are 100% safe and supervised by experts in the industry. Regular ghee, on the other hand, is sometimes made with unhealthy ingredients that contain little or no nutrients that can benefit the human body.

Considering the benefits that can be availed from pure, A2 desi ghee made from the milk of indigenous cows, using highly beneficial Vedic processes, the difference is a small price to pay for the good health of you and your family.
